The heavyweight world championship fight between holder Vladimir Klitscho and Jean-Marc Mormeck has been cancelled and will now be held on the 3rd March 2012. Ukraine’s Klitschko, who holds the IBF, IBO, WBO and WBA versions of the title, underwent surgery last Saturday to have a kidney stone removed at the weekend. He couldn;’t recover fast enough so that’s why they cancelled the fight.

If his dream of getting back into the ring with the Englishman does not ultimately come true, Mormeck has earned the right, through his victories over Vinny Maddalone, Fres Oquendo and Timur Ibragimov, to take on the undisputed master of the division, Wladimir Klitschko.
